Aurat March 2024 continued the tradition: thousands of women and allies marching in Pakistan's major cities on March 8th. Here's what happened and why it matters.

The demands

End to honour-based violence

The counter-movement

Every year, Aurat March is met with a counter-protest. Men march to "protect Pakistani values." The values they are protecting are never specified, but they seem to include women's silence, women's immobility, and women's inability to say what they want.
